Are dwarf hamsters more likely to escape than regular hamsters?

i might be getting one.
Answers:
Dwarf hamsters, in my experience,. are little escape artists. Their size seems to help them escape no matter how secure you think their cage may be. We had a teddy bear hamster that never escaped. We also had a dwarf that had babies- 5 of them. Between the 7 hamsters, I think they probably escaped 20 times. Literally. Most of the time it was when they were older and separated into their own cages. (This was in a college dorm room too- I can't believe we never got caught!)
no it doesn't matter. If you get a cage that there is no way for them to get out they won't escape. You should have a nice fairly sized cage. If the cage is secure then your hamster won't get out!
they are the same dwarf ham are not as tame as the other breeds but if you hold them alot it should be good
They are adorable and really good at escaping.
yes they will even if the top of the cage is open ,spider hamster
No, I have had dwarf hamsters and regular hamsters and neither one of them tried to escape.
i have both right now and none try to to get out.as long as u have th percft cages and toys and food and treats and sleeeping places and stuff there is no reason to escape but dwarfs can not have cages with wired floors or wires that are to far apart
if you have a cage with bars, then yes probly, because the dwarf hamster is called a dwarf for a reason. (its smaller)
but if it is a tank, or normal hamster cage then you should have no problem. i have dwarf hamsters that lived in a bar cage and they didnt escape, except for the male got into the femal cage and had 12 babies. but that was because we left the lid open and forgot... hope i helped
I have never lost any kind of hamster. If you purchase the proper caging, you shouldn't have any escapees.
I prefer dwarf hamsters, I find they are more interactive with humans and are more enjoyable to watch. They are like little furry comedians. Please DO NOT listen to anyone who tells you that dwarf hamsters are nasty, or mean, or more likely to bite. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I have bred and owned many, many, many dwarf and syrian hamsters, and have been bitten by every syrian I ever had, and only three of the dwarf hamsters I had. It's all about taming and training them.
If you take the time to let the hamster get used to you gradually, over a two week period, it will be a great pet. It needs to get used to your voice and your smell. Dwarf hamsters make great little pets, and can be housed in pairs or small family groups. If you'd be interested in getting a pair of dwarf hamsters, make sure you get two that are the same sex and are from the same litter. It is harder to introduce to unrelated dwarfs, and I wouldn't recommend it for a first time owner.
Contact local breeders or pet stores and see if they have a young litter or are expecting a litter of dwarf hamsters soon. Contact me through petqna.com s if you'd like more information on dwarf hamsters.
i think you should have regular as they are cuter eassier to pick up and arnt so tiny . dawf hamsters are more likly to escape
