Are guinea pigs good pets?

I was thinking about getting one...don't give me info. please because I already read all about them...Should I get one...?
Answers:
Yes. I am glad you are thinking to get one. Guinea pigs are wonderful pets? The are gentle, sweet, kind, playful, cuddly and VERY VERY CUTE. But, you have to take into consideration that you are
-You are going to have to pay vet bills
- Going to have to give them constant care
- You are going to have to buy 2.
- Your going to need to have money to buy a cage, timothy hay, food pellets, a hidey house and other accesories guinea pigs need.
Other than that they are great pets
Good Luck (-=
I don't like Guinea Pigs, but you might.
they smell bad
If you are going to spend lots of time with the "pig" then yeah! go for it! but if not, get something that can entertain it's self like a cat or a rat.
i had one he was great t hey live a long time so you need to be prepared mine got angry when i wanted to clean h is cage and tried to b ite me they are really smart and when you come h ome they can hear you and will chatter they are great pets have fun ok just make sure you get him checked by a vet because mi ne died when he lost his fur i was heartbroken
theyre VERY friendly animals and love to cuddle. they are wonderful pets to have around, they dont make much sound at night like hampsters do and theyre up in the day so its easier to play with. they dont stink as long as you clean theyre cage regularily(once a week, unless you have a small cage which wouls be about once every 3 days) Good luck on your choice%26lt;3
NO . they are horrible pets first off they squeel so much it'll anoy the hell out of you. they also dont like to be handled. the ones i had always ran away from me. some thing with my friends
You will need to consider a few things before getting a pig too. Space, time, money for food and vet bills all need to be thought about.
Pet store cages are wayy to small for any guinea pig. A C%26C cage is easy to make, cheaper, and much bigger and better gor your pig. www.guineapigcages.com has instructions on making your own or ordering a premade one. DO NOT use cedar chips for bedding like someone previously suggested. They are very harmful to your gp. GuineaLynx has bedding ideas.
Diet is very important: Quality pellets (no extra colorful bit or seeds) are essential. Oxbow is a good brand pellet. At least a cup of fresh veggies every day. Unlimited timothy hay 24/7. Vitmain c supplements. http://www.guinealynx.info/diet.html.... has more diet details.
* Vitman C should not be put in the water. It weakens in water and you can't measure how much the guinea pig gets a day. Use vit.C drops or chewable tablets.
Guinea pigs need daily floor/exercise time in a safe place. At least an hour a day is best. Since GP are social animals, it's best to have 2 so that they will have company all the time. Be sure they are the same sex though. Pregnancies are very dangerous for piggies.
Also, please consider adopting your pig instead of buying one. There are sooooo many great, healthy guinea pigs that need homes in shelters and rescues all over the country. Pets stores usually sell unhealthy pigs that have been poorly taken care of. Petfinder.com will help you find a pig in your area.

I have 2 pigs and I love them! They are the most affectionate rodents you can get.
I have two and yes they make good pets but you got to be patient at first because they are very shy.
Yes there fantastic! Don't listen to the other people that say there bad or smelly.. there great if you like playful, gonna play with them a lot, and keep them company. 2 guinea pigs are the best so they have company when your busy, not like some other rodents they are friendly to each other than trying to kill each other =]
Yes.They make awesome pets unless you get a stupid one...
i think u should definitely get one. just make sure u have enough money for monthly food and hay and emergency vet bills
Yes you should if you are going to take care of it properly. I trust you have learned all you can about them so you just need to put aside at least an hour everyday to give the guinea pig food, clean his/her cage out and that stuff. Also I recommend getting two, being as they are social creatures , both of the same gender if you don't want any babies.
Okay, reasons a guinea pig is a good pet. They are gentle and really don't bite or anything if you are gentle with them, perfect for beginner owners. They are also the chubbiest cutest things ( "things" is not intended to insult) and VERY easy to take care of. And if you are kind to them, they will give you love and be a nice friend.
YES! They are great pets.
Yes, they hardly ever bite, are totally odourless (if you clean their cage well and regularly) and are very furry and happy, cuddly pets.
They are great pets as long as you are willing to do ALL that is necessary to take care of them. They can live to about 8 years sometimes, so be prepared to put a lot of time and effort into them. Also make sure you have an exotics vet around you before making the decision to buy one.
