Are guinea pigs non allergenic??

my mom is allergic to fur and feathers or sumthing like that and i wanted to know if there was a guinea pig that was non allergenic
Answers:
I'm the same way as your mom. I have lived with several guinea pigs. You would have to keep the cage clean, and don't set the piggy near the kitchen table or anything because long or short hair, they do shed a little. If she touches it make sure she washes her hands asap. They do have hairless ones:)
They are allergenic but your mom probably wouldn't be in close enough contact to get alergies unless you get a longhair
Sorry sweet-heart It has fur so your mom will get allgeric BUT
not as bad if you bruch your guinea pig everday it will lessen the fur in the sir so you mom wont get so allergic :)
No. Guinea pigs have fur and shed and do cause allergies. So do rabbits, hamsters, mice, chinchillas, and all other small fuzzy things.
In my experience shorted haired varieties tend to shed more than the longer haired varieties. If this is in fact true than maybe you could get a longer haired guinea pig, to find out if it is true go to the pet store and get your mom to hold the guinea pig. If she has an allergic reaction then you know that you can not get one. Someone else mentioned hairless guinea pigs, I would advise against this, they are often sickly and need specific temperatures and what not.
nope. all 13 breeds are allergenic. and dont let anyone tell you differently.
