Answers:
No animal is hypoallergenic, although some are better/worse for allergy sufferers than others. With rodents, it's probably the same or similar to how it is with other animals...you can react to any/all of the following: hair, dander, saliva or urine.
Do you know for certain you have allergies to any of them? If not, maybe visit a friend/relative with rodents or a pet shop and spend some time with them. Keep in mind, just because you're allergic to one animal, doesn't mean you're allergic to all. Allergies are basically an immune response to a specific substance(s). If you are allergic to any rodents, a hairless would lessen (but not eliminate) the chance of a reaction.

any small pet kept in a cage should be fine for someone with allergies. make sure they wash their hands thoroughly after handling the animal.
ummmm try a dwarf hamster they r very small and i am allergic to a lot of things dogs cats trees mold etc.
i got a dwarf hamster and i dotn sneeze at all they r very easy to care for and they r really cute 2. rats r kinda creepy...
DWARF HAMSTERS FOREVER!
Any animal with hair has the potential to be allergenic.
well, rats are great for people with allergies!! plus, since they have fragile respitory systems themselves, the bedding they need shouldn't bother you either!
they're very interactive pets that are like the dog in pocket pet form pretty much! when you read up on their care so you know how to care for them, i'm sure you'll learn to love them just like so many other people have

  1. To be honest, I'm not sure what to tell you... When I moved in with my sister, I had to give up my pet rat, Tony, because she's so allergic to most animals. Mice are out, too. So, unless you like lizards... That could be an option. Since my sister's allergic to so many creatures, we thought that a lizard could be something to try. So, we went to the pet store a few times, she handled different kinds with no reaction. And so, now I have a little crestie (crested gecko). And while she doesn't like Howie, at least she isn't allergic to him, lol! A snake could be another option. If you have the space and money to care for one, bearded dragons make lovely pets. They are gentle and trainable (to a point). Hope I helped a bit. Good luck!

  2. And just so everyone knows, I only gave Tony to a very good forever home once confirming my sister was indeed allergic. The I grudgingly gave him up. I believe that every animal deserves a forever home. Please keep that in mind when choosing a pet, dear. :)
