Are guinea pigs affectionate?

Are they more affectionate than a rabbit?
Answers:
Guinea pigs are very affectionate. With time they will learn to trust you and will come running to greet you, they often get to the point where they will just sit with their head hanging over the edge of the cage waiting for a scratch!! This takes time though, guinea pigs are prey animals and are very skittish to start of with. Some good ways to bond with your guinea pig is by:
1. Having floor time daily
2. Cuddles daily
3. Work out their favourite food and make it a rule that they only get that food when you are having your cuddles.
In regards to whether or not they are more affectionate then rabbits; rabbits often do not like to be handled. Other than that it all comes down to personality, some guinea pigs prefer to be left alone - likewise with rabbits.
no, i have owned both, and generally, rabbits are more affectionate.
in ways. they are very vocal. they squeak when they think you are going to feed them. also my friends have some guineas that lick you. thats really nice.
my guinea's were always affectionate in their own ways :)
they would come running out to see me when i went near them and squeak if they thought i might get them some vegetables. also if i was lying down they would sometimes lie up against me so i could hug them it was soo sweet :) (and mine licked me, that's cute)

yes guinea pig can b very affectionate i dont know if they are more affectionate then a rabbit b/c i've never owned a rabbit
Guinea pigs are very sweet, and will relax with you if you lay down with him/her. It is very important to research on guinea pigs, though, because many, many people do not do this important step, and do everything wrong. Also, most pet store information is wrong because they want to sell their cages, crappy food, etc.
VERY important info on guinea pigs that may help you further:

You will want to adopt, because pet stores are notorious for having sick, prego, mis-sexed piggies. Also, they contribute to the over-population of guinea pigs a whole deal. Try looking on http://www.petfinder.com.
Way more affectionate,I have both and l like handling the guinea pigs more than the rabbits.
Of all the pets that I have treated, guinea pigs are the gentlest. They do not have a mean bone in their body and it is hard to believe that they were once capable of existing in the wild. The Spaniards introduced pet guinea pigs to Europe in 1554. They obtained them from the Inca Indians of Peru who kept them as pets as early as 1450. These rodent-like animals no longer exist in the wild. They are also called cavies. Guinea pigs are very shy by nature. They are active both in the daytime and occasionally at night. Guinea pigs are very vocal and this vocalization plays an important part in socialization with other pigs or humans. Guinea pigs love company. Researchers have counted at least eleven different sounds that guinea pigs make in communicating with each other and their owners. Their social nature, temperament and low maintenance make them excellent pets. Guinea pigs are the gentlest of all the pocket pets, which include mice, hamsters, rats and gerbils and so are ideal pets for responsible children. I would not purchase any living pet for a child younger than nine. They love to be petted and will squeak and grunt with pleasure when they are gently handled. They will pine away and their health will suffer if they are not handled or kept with others of their kind. They are very clean. I got my first guinea pig when I was nine. We named her Mrs. Crawford, after one of my parent鈥檚 bridge partners who also had droopy jowls.
Like swine, boy guinea pigs are called boars and females sows. Adult female guinea pigs weigh about a pound (450gms) while males weight in at about a pound and a half (700gm). They come in four basic varieties, long and shorthair, straight and swirled and an endless variety of colors. With good care and proper diet, guinea pigs should live 4-7 years. A few will reach 8 years of
ive had two guinea pigs and four rabbits over the years and id have to say that the guinea pigs were the most affectionate small animals ive ever had
