My hamster (Poncho) has a blackish bump on his back. It is not raised and when I rub him it doesn't seem to bother him. I have been watching it closely and it doesn't seem to be getting an bigger. Any advice on what it could be? Thanks!

The only normal black bumps hamsters may have are sort of by their hips, one on each side. Does that sound familiar?
Those are like scent glands, and rather small.
Otherwise, you could call a vet and ask.
It could be nothing as he does seem to be hurt by it but if you are really worried than best to take it to a vet or you could try to find out from a pet store owner they do know sometime what is wrong with certain pets..
maybe the hamster is bonie... take it to the vet and see what they say
i would suggest taking it to the vet, but its possible a tick.
simply take him to the vet
I suggest you get your hamster checked. It could be a harmful tumor. Don't just wait and see what happens. Go online and search for hamster health. Or go to the vet.
If the bump is bothering your hamster and is worrying you, don't hesitate to take him to the vet- It's better to be safe than sorry.
well how old is the hammie, they develop tumours as they age. check with a vet.
