1st seperate the father or you'll have more babies in about 3 weeks, then I would not change bedding as this has been stressful for the mother (and you too:-) if she gets to stressed or feels she cannot protect them she will kill the babies (though I have not had this happen thank God) so not a good idea, unless you put some clean bedding on the other side of the cage and hope she moves, then you can clean her real bedding. After two weeks you should be able to clean the bedding really good, and if the mother lets you you can pick them up! Make sure you seperate girls from boys by 5 weeks and all the young by 12 weeks (if they are Syrians) or they will fight as they are solitary, Good Luck!
try puting him in your room any room where the mother is not giving birth
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. IF YOU GET ANYWHERE NEER THOSE BABIES, THE MOTHER WILL EAT THEM THINKING SHES PROTECTING THEM. PUT THE FATHER IN A SPERATE CAGE! IF YOU DONT HAVE ONE HE SHOULD BE FINE FOR THE NIGHT, JUST KEEP AN EYE ON HIM!! BUT DONT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO NEER THE BABIES!
what i did was that when the mother was sleeping, i took the bedding out from the other side of the cage of where she was. eventually i got near to the place where she was, and i was able to change the whole tank. but my hamster knew me and climbs up on my hands even when she has babies. so it was quite easy for me, but if you hamster gets scared, i would suggest only cleaning the other part of the cage. maybe if she gets up, you can sneak a handful of bedding out. put the father in a diff cage. after that, dont change the bedding at all until the pups are weaned
In a day or two, you can put some clean bedding at the other end of the cage. the momma may move the babies to the clean area later. or she may move the new bedding to her current area. DO NOT MESS with the babies.
if you do not want the momma to get pregnant again or worse yet... If you do not want any of the little girls to get pregnant, keep daddy hammy away.
try and wait a couple of days before changeing the bedding.
you might want to think about going to a pet store and asking them what to do.
Well here's one thing: Do not touch the babies. I think everyone else already explained why.
But here's a way to change the bedding. First change the bedding where the hammies and hamster aren't at, like the opposite half or something. Be sure to be very careful not to touch the hammies! Then when they move to that clean side, you can change the dirty side. I guess you just can't clean all of the cage today...sorry! (or unless you're lucky and the mother moves all of the babies to the clean side immediately or something)
A hamster that has given birth should be disturbed as little or possible or she may become agitated and abandon, neglect, or even eat the babies. This means other than providing food and water, you should leave the hamsters and their cage alone as much as possible for the first couple of weeks. While it is tempting to look at the babies and make sure everything is okay, it is best to leave the mom to do her thing
Place strips of toilet paper or facial tissue in the cage so mom can build a soft nest. Ideally, you would do this once you realize your hamster is pregnant (it is usually pretty noticeable a couple of days before birth, just by the sheer size of her belly).
Don't try to handle the babies at all for at least two weeks.
Once the babies have arrived, don't worry about cleaning the cage for a while.

Leave it alone for the first 10-14 days. You can spot clean really wet spots if absolutely necessary, but avoid disturbing the nest. If you have noticed your hamster is pregnant, do a thorough cleaning to prepare for the new arrivals.
Make sure to provide plenty of food and fresh water, but make feeding and watering as efficient and calm as possible.
While it is okay to have a quick peek in the cage on occasion, avoid siting and watching for long periods.
Keep in mind that the mom will be very protective as well so may act more aggressive than usual; this is natural and no cause for concern.
Though interference should be avoided if at all possible, if for some rare reason you must move a baby, use a spoon so you do not get your scent on the baby. It is rarely necessary to move a baby though even if they are out of the nest; the mom will usually retrieve any stray pups and return them to the nest.
The hamsters will be ready for weaning at about 3 weeks of age, and it is best to separate the male pups into one group and the females into another. Syrian hamsters can stay in these male and female groups for another 2-3 weeks, but then must be separated so there is only one per cage.
If you ended up with a male and female dwarf hamster by mistake, it is best to remove the male as soon as possible after birth, with as little disturbance to the female as possible. While the male will not harm the babies and may help with rearing them, the female can get pregnant again shortly after giving birth and this can be very hard on her body.
Make sure you are feeding a high quality diet with lots of protein. In addition to a good quality diet, you can offer small amounts of hard boiled egg, bits of cooked chicken, cheese, and wheatgerm to give the mom a nurtitional boost.
Unfortunately, if you got a pregnant hamster from the pet store she is probably quite young and may not have the best mothering abilities. She may be more likely to abandon or even cannibalize her babies. If she doesn't care for them and they are less than 10 days of age, it is extrememly difficult to save the babies. It is best to make sure you get your hamster from a store that separates males from females at a young age to avoid surprises like this.
buy a snake..
I'm assuming that this is a syrian hamster? (also known as Goldens, teddy bears, etc) If so, the male should NOT be in the same cage as the female. Especially now. She will attack him (possibly killing him) and she may kill the pups to protect them.
Do not change the bedding. That will freak your hamster out and she'll kill the pups.
Provide extra food - especially food that will give her more protein, like a bit of scrambled egg, bread soaked in milk, etc. Ensure that her water bottle is ALWAYS full. She will need lots of liquids now. And try to move her cage to a place in your house where she will be disturbed the least.
When the pups start eating solids, you will have to provide loads of extra food for them too.
Good luck!
Seperate the father from the mother and the babies. Use gloves to pick up the babies, and put them inn a seperate place with the mother. DO NOT TOUCH THEM WITH YOUR BARE HANDS. Clean their cage with warm water and soap, and make sure to rinse well. Dry well, then put new bedding in. Also do not put in a bowl for water use a water bottle for hamsters from Petco or Petsmart, because the babies could drown in the bowl. put everything clean and fresh back in and the mommy knows what to do. Don't touch the babies until about 2 weeks or so. GOOD LUCK! =)
Dont touch the bedding as she will eat the babies. Leave the bedding and dont touch the cage for ten days. As for dad, I have no idea!!
good luck..
you need to separate the mother and father and you cant touch the babies untill they are about 7 days old the same thing happened to me but theres nothin much u can do about it all u need to do is make sure the mother has fresh veggies and clean water and make sure she is in a quiet area and good luck!
