can you explain your answer
Answers:
Definitely 2 piggies!
Guinea pigs are social herd animals. Another guinea pig will provide your buddies with comfort, grooming, and someone to squeak to at the very least.

That site is super helpful on this issue and they'll show you how to make a really neat cage for them too.
Good luck
2 cos they get lonely. very lonely.
If possible get 2 of the same litter of the same sex. This way you have the most chances of them getting along. Of course this may not be practical (as it was not in my case too) in which case you should endeavour to get 2 of the same sex. Many people say boars do not get along, it is all to do with the way you introduce them, introduce them in a neutral area and after the usual but sniffing, teeth chattering they will become friends.
Guinea pigs are herd animals by nature thus why the do better in pairs, they are very social and the companionship of another guinea pig is often very comforting and it really brings the best out of your piggys.
Have a look at the following site, I personally have found it very helpful:

Good Luck!!
First, you must get 1 guinea pig...[ so if you do have problem w/ it, you can only have 1 problem] and if youre OK with it, go buy another 1...because they love to talk..{ they are talkative} LOL!
Two guinea pigs would be beta than 1 cause guinea pigs perfer and loves company, they live in big groups in nature thats why.And if u r getting 2 u can buy a female and a male if u want baby guinea pigs (Warning! They can make lots of guinea pigs and where would u find a home for the little piggies)But neva put a male and a male together they will fight for territory and fight till they *DROP*. SO GET 2 IF U CAN !
Two is a better choice, they love to live with other Guinea Pigs since they are social. But no offence it seems like you really haven't done much research to be asking us this question, so do the future piggies (that you should adopt and not buy from a petstore) a favor and do lots of research. Believe me it pays off in the end.
Two guinea pigs are happier together than one is alone, as everyone else has said, however you should recognise that there is always a chance (especially with boars, but I have known it to happen with sows too) that they may start to fight, or pull hairs out of each other, even if they are from the same litter and have been together all their life, as like humans their personalities develop and mature over time, and if you get them at 2/3 months of age they are not mature for you to tell how they will get along as adults. Your safest option is to adopt a bonded pair (both male/both female/neutered male%26female) from a shelter, as they will then be old enough for you to be relatively sure they will get along, and guinea pigs are happier in pairs.
