Abused hamster?

So a few months ago I went to a petstore. and the owner of the pet store said they have a hamster and that he would give it to me for half price bcuz it has been baddly abused. The hamster has a huge hole in her right ear.
Since ive had her for a few months she is still scared around people...She will only let me pet her and feed her. But when it comes to pickin her up and letting her out of the cage she wotn do it.
Does anyone know what I can do to make her feel more relaxed here
Also she is alittle over a year old.

Well, she may never get over the abuse. Animals have very good memories. Unfortunately for her it is bad memories. You could try to give her treats whenever you pet her to make her trust you more. It's like when you break in kittens, if you pick her up a lot eventually she'll get used to it. Just make sure when you hold her that your surroundings are very calm and relaxing. Make sure there is nothing around to scare her unexpectedly. After a while she should get use to you picking her up. Good Luck!
Hmm...maybe you could wear some kind of gloves and have treats in your hand? Maybe that will have her walk onto your hand. Maybe then you could pet her softly, and gently let her out? I don't know, because I don't have a small pet, but it's worth a shot.
See if you can lure her by any chance into a little running ball and then go to a room where she cant hide under anything or escape you and let her out on the ground. [Empty closets and showers without a open drain are the best choices].
Or place your hand on the cage and let her smell you. Just make sure she doesn't bite! Make sure your hand always smells the same. Wash it always with a the same soap so they will learn it isn't food. Then after a couple of days slowly reach in and try to stroke her back. If she flips out completely, back your hand out and go back to letting her smell you. After another day, repeat the process, by putting your hand in the cage.
maybe it think ur gonna hurt her when u pick her up so when u pick her up give it a treat let her know that you won hurt it if you are gonna hurt it well then your on your own nut
It's - a - hams - ter.
This is what i did wid my mouse when i first got him. It may take a few days 4 ur hamster. I held him in the bath(dry) and kept my hand close to the ground. if he jumped he wouldnt hurt him self. It worked!
if you live with your family move the cage to an other room and have the person that sleeps there take care of the cage needs for 2-5 days so she can get to know that person and the suroundings then take the cage to other rooms
