I have two albino dwarf hamesters. One is Hannah and the other is Raven. Raven came out of her box one day and her eye was bulging. What happened? She is still very active and stuff but do I need to do anything for her?
Answers:
I suggest taking her to the vet to make sure there's no injury to the eye or other problem with it. We have 11 dwarfs and one has an underdeveloped eye and is deaf due to a birth defect. We've had some with both eyes bulging, but they were born that way. It wasn't something sudden. Her eye may be irritated by the litter or they got into a little scuffle. If your using a wood shaving litter of pine, cedar, aspen or any other wood these all cause allergy reactions in small animals. Using a paper product litter like Care Fresh or Critter Care brands will reduce the chances of allergies occuring. We strictly use both of these brands only. Just like with humans allergies come in many different ways, but small animals can also even have hair loss with an allergic reaction to the woods.
Bottom line take her to the vet an have the eye checked out if you have concerns about it.
