Adoption??

I was thinking about adopting a guinea pig from a shelter or something. but i cant find one in my area. would it be better to buy one from a store?
Answers:
Have you checked on http://www.petfinder.com?
If you can't find one... they are kinda hard to come by... than yes! Any cute cuddly guinea pig would love to have a human to call its own, even if you bought it from a pet store.
great choice on a guinea pig. maybe your should look around or ask your vet. there might be one in a town close to you.
If there's none in shelters, you can also look for a local breeder at: http://www.acbaonline.com/
Or check your local paper or Craigslist for people who need to rehome theirs.
well i don't know much about guinea pigs (cuz i have a bunny) but my sister is going to get 1 try to go to your nearest swap meet they sell everything there from dogs to parrots or if you don't have one in your town try to look for the cheapest pet store around (i got my bunny at the swap meet) well anyways if you live in a major city such as los angeles or new york look up on google:yourcity.craiglist.org you can find pets to yard sales it's pretty cool
It doesn't really matter where you buy one, but if you really want to adopt one from an animal shelter, you can search for animal shelters online.
Alot of animals that are up for adoption aren't at shelters...our shelter is so overcrowded that most of the animals up for adoption are in foster homes, and our shelter works with a pet adoption organization which has no shelter (just a bunch of volunteers and foster homes)...besides this there are some people who, rather than giving their pet to a shelter, will post an adoption ad online or in the news paper to find a new home instead of going through a shelter
here's some things you might want to try:
check your phone book to see if there are any pet adoption agencies you haven't already asked; go back to the same shelters once or twice a week because they get new pets in everyday
Check your local newspaper classifieds to see if anyone is giving away or selling their g.piggie
Check online,
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/sss?q...
has five g.piggies up for sale
and
http://search.petfinder.com/search/searc...
has 1,231 g.piggies up for adoption across the nation!
-do a search with your area code and I'm sure you'll find several you'll like!
good luck and remember, adoption is a noble thing to do but that doesn't mean it's an easy thing to do; just be patient and persistent and you'll find the right one for you soon enough!
Shelter would be good I got my piggy Wilbur from the humane society!!
best luck is to check petfinder.com.
they have over 1000 guinea pigs to choose from.
try to find one in your area
