A question about rats?

Is it like for street rats (NY) rats to attack cats, dogs and humans since they have so much interaction? Are a gang of rats are predetors like wolves are in the wild? Any can answer this question.
Answers:
Wild rats, sewer rats, or whatever other name you chose to call them, aren't like wolves. True, they are VERY social animals and their colonies can be quite large, but they don't group together to take down a dog or cat. Dogs and cats are natural predators to rats. Rats won't go out of their way to attack a predator. They will, however, defend themselves viciously if they are provoked.
The stories you hear of rats ganging up on humans are just that... stories. Movies like "Ben" and "Williard" have portrayed a false image of rats.
In high density areas, such as New York City or other large cities, there is a much higher chance of encountering a wild rat.
Rats live near humans because we provide them with large amounts of free food through our garbage. The more humans, the more garbage, the more rats, and the less afraid the rats become of humans.
Did you see the news story of the KFC in New York with all the rats running around in the restaurant when it was closed? Those rats were in the restaurant when it was open as well, but the news story did not mention gangs of rats attacking humans. Why? Because it simply does not happen.
Rats arent like you see in the movies, they arent going to gang together and pounce and kill you while your walking on the street, nor would they a dog or cat. They would scurry just like any other small animal if a bigger predator came around and was a threat. Rats arent vicious, though i dont know any street rats, i know my domestic one, she is a better pet than a dog or cat.
I agree with "mama", usually rats are runners not fighters, but they will defend themselves if they feel threatened, especially wild ones. One of my rats bit my dog's nose when he got too close to the cage.
Wild rats are known to kill and eat cats and dogs. Yes they are very similar to wolves. Wild rats are the same amount removed genetically from pet rats as wolves are from dogs.
