Answers:
your supposed to leave them supervised in the excercise ball for only 15 to 30 min. for treats they love everything, i have a list i could email you. you should hold her by gently grabbing her and placing her on the palm of your hand and facing her towards your chest, so she wont jump off and her herself.
Hamsters love lettuce..and I never heard of putting the hamster on a leash, they should be in the ball until they seem tired, cuz later on they'll start biting the ball wanting to get out or poop inside, u should hold her with one hand when taking her out the cage and both when spending time with her petting her with the other free hand. You should get the hamster used to you by letting the hamster smell your hand (u know like dogs, smelling the scent and getting used to you) Spend lots of time with the hamster!
They love apples, carrots, unsalted sunflower seeds, and corn as treats and make sure to get them a salt lick. Avoid watery fruits like watermelon and lettuce, because this can cause them to get the runs or wet tail. If they ever get wet tail just give them pedalight or arrow root. Where did you find a leash and collar that small!? I would let them play in the ball for no longer an hour or so, but make sure not to loose track of them, and remember to wash it every time they use it. You should hold her as close to the ground as possible in your hand. Hold her tight but dont squeeze her. If you want her to trust you try feeding her a slice of apple while you hold it that way she is comfortable with you near her. If she can trust you with her food then she will trust you with anything. try not to pull back when she bites, I know its instinct, but if you can help it, it will show that you dont fear her and it wont scare her. plus hamsters dont bite with their mouths are full of food.
1) They really like Cheez-its %26 Ritz crackers.
2) I'm not sure about a leash, How would you get a collar to fit on it's neck.
3) They usually love the balls, I wouldn't ever leave them alone in it, or more than 1/2 an hour.
4) At first you'll need to place her inside the palms of your hands and speak gently to her between the cracks of your fingers. You'll know when she calms enough to open your hands further.
5) It will take time for her to trust you enough to come to you when you open her cage top. try tempting her with pretzels or cheez-its.
6) Spend a lot of time speaking soft and gentle to her.
Love your little one! Pandora
1. Sunflower seeds
2.yes
3.5-7 mintunes
4.one hand under it one hand over it
5.let her get use to u first then do not pet it really fast or make fast movements. it will scare it.
For treats, hamsters love sunflower and pumkin seeds. Anything with sugar or salt is death for them.
I dont think there are such things as hamster leashes, but if there are, it would be really hard to put them on, and your hamster would probably hate it. My rabbits do.
They can be in their ball untill they get tired and just stop running. Tops, 3o minutes.
Hold her in your open palm, and let her run from hand to hand. Be very gentle with her. To get her used to you, feed her in your hand, be gentle, talk to her softly, etc. You should pick her up once or twice a day, and hold her for a few minutes, so that she gets used to you. If you pick her up more, she might get annoyed.
good luck and have fun!
if you go to a pet store (or more or less any other store), they have treats that hamsters LOVE. they have chew sticks, too, which are long sticks with seeds and things on them which keep their teeth in shape (but mine still prefer chewing on their bars) and give them nice treats.
for treats, along with the stuff in pet stores (mine like veggie flavored sammy noodles and yogurt drops), they like fruit and vegetables like lettuce and apples, and sunflower seeds (but those can make a hamster fat so be careful with how many you give them). they also like sweet things which aren't good for them, so stay away from chocolate!
if you block off any place that a hamster could fall down the stairs or anything, they wouldn't need a leash - hamsters are very curious and love to wander around and explore a room - just keep an eye on them as they're very sneaky also.
when you put them in the ball, it's okay to let them run around for about 15-20 minutes, but then make sure you put them back in their cage so they can get some water and food if they need it. give them a break for a little while and then if they want to they can go back in for a while, just repeat that a couple times - not more than about an hour a day, though, i'd say.
when you want to hold her, put your hands in the cage and let her know you're their (my dwarfs actually climb right onto my hand and up my arm to let me know they want to come out), and then scoop them up with both hands. when you do this, make sure they don't jump off your hands or anything, and you can put one hand below/in front of the other which they'll have fun walking over.
hamsters like to run and explore, so it's natural for them to run away when you're petting them. when you're holding her, if you have one around her, they usually let you rub they're back or tummy a little.
leave her alone in her cage for a couple days right after you get her and allow her to get adjusted to the new home, then hold a treat out to her (make sure you wash your hands before you handle them!) and she should take it - that'll get her used to your scent. talk softly to her and don't get angry if she nips you at first (it doesn't hurt that bad and it's perfectly normal).
also, don't give your hamster a bath. they groom themselves, but if you really think their fur is starting to look oily or messy, you can comb it down a little with a soft toothbrush or let them roll around in chinchilla sand (NOT DUST!)
