A questions about hedgehogs?

I'm considering getting a pet hedgehog and i have a question.
do their spines stick inside you? I heard that with porcupine spines are like anchors and they stick inside where ever you get hit with their spines.
Answers:
The quills of an African pygmy hedgehog are not barbed, so they won't get "stuck" in your skin if they happen to break the surface.
They are very, very sharp, though, and when a hedgie curls up into a ball and puffs itself up defensively, the spines point in all different directions (it's really cool to see, actually!) and it can make handling them very awkward.
There is a lot of good information on hedgies out there, and I hope you do your research before deciding if this is the right pet for you.
Just a quick note - I see you put this in the "Rodents" section, but hedgies aren't rodents. They're insectivores. =)
i dont think hedgehog spikes will stick in you, because i have seen people holding them with bare hands
Hedgies spines stay put-stay attached to their skin. Occasionally, they will fall out. Porcupines shoot out their spines.
No the spines do not stick in you. When they trust you they will actually lay them flat.
porcupine quills have barbs that hold them under the skin. hedgehogs do not. it does sting quite a bit if you step on one of the ones that has been shed.
